Help Ambleside through purchasing Scrip cards

Last October we began selling scrip cards to help raise money for our school.  Scrip cards are gift cards from various retailers that Ambleside purchases at a discount and resells at face value.  With every scrip purchase, our school earns a 2-17% rebate, depending on the store. 

  1. NEW - With every scrip purchase, 50% of the rebate goes directly to the school.  The other 50% can be credited toward your 2010-2011 family tuition bill, the Ambleside scholarship fund or to a designated family’s tuition bill.  When families receive the tuition statement for 2010-2011, the rebate earned will be shown as a credit.   
  1. In order to keep track of the rebates earned by families, all families must set up an account with shopwithscrip.com and purchase scrip through their account.  We will no longer order extra cards to sell through the office.  Families can still bring a paper order and check to the office but all families must be registered online.  This allows us to track all purchases by family so we can accurately determine the rebate each family earned.  We will help families set up accounts at the first campus meeting of the upcoming school year.  If you need further assistance setting up your account, please contact Susan Junker.  The enrollment code for Ambleside School is E439186B18557.
  1. PrestoPay – If you are tired of forgetting to send in your order and check, consider registering for the PrestoPay program at ShopWithScrip.com.  When you place your order, you choose to have your checking account debited for the amount of the order or to bring a check to the school.  There is a $.39 convenience fee, but no check writing required.  With PrestoPay, you place your order on time, pay on time and wait for your cards to come home in the orange folder.  Registering for PrestoPay does take 1 to 2 days while they confirm your checking information.
  1. Existing accounts.  Existing scrip users should sign on to www.ShopWithScrip.com and choose “Change Profile/Password” to update your account with your student’s 2009-10 grade and teacher.

What To Do Now:

  1. Set up an account online or update your profile at www.ShopWith Scrip.com.  Our enrollment code is E439186B18557.
  2. Turn in rebate designation form or email your preference to Doug Ashman.
  3. Place orders twice a month (due by 10am Thursday with cards sent home on the following Wednesday).  Specific order deadlines will be printed in the school Bulletin.

To order scrip cards, simply log on to your account, place your order and use PrestoPay (no need to send anything to school) or send your paper order form (available in the school office) and check to the school office.  We will generate a packing slip and place it with the cards in an envelope in the orange folders to go home to you. 

Shopping with scrip (gift cards) is an easy way to earn money for our school and families.  The most common scrip purchases are HEB Foods, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Lands End, Ace Hardware, Home Depot, and Amazon.com.  But there are so many more, including gasoline retailers, department stores, restaurants and major hotels and airlines.  Check out available retailers online at www.shopwithscrip.com.  Please consider using scrip for your everyday and occasional purchases and watch how those rebates will add up!

When friends and families of Ambleside purchase scrip, they're purchasing negotiable gift certificates that are used just like cash. The scrip is issued by the national and local retailers where many Ambleside families already shop. These merchants want to support non-profit organizations, and in return ask you to support them by shopping with scrip at their stores. Ambleside families can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, they earn revenue for your organization.

How scrip generates revenue for Ambleside

The Great Lakes Scrip center acts on behalf of churches, schools and other non-profit organizations to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. Your organization buys the scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to Ambleside families for full face value. The bulk of the discount - from two to fifteen percent or more - is retained by your organization as revenue.

Scrip is "shopping cart fundraising”

The reason for the effectiveness of scrip is simple: families generate revenue through purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with scrip. An organization of 150 families easily spends between one and two million dollars per year on food, clothing and other essentials. If these families use scrip for these purchases, they can raise as much as $40,000 to $80,000 per year for their organization --without spending an additional penny.

Retailers like Scrip, too

Families who purchase scrip certificates actively support the retailers who participate in this program. The reason is simple… they know that buying from a scrip participating retailer provides a steady source of revenue for their church, school, or non-profit organization.
